There are many ways to pick up on a new language, or even a new way of conceptualizing a concept that you had never before thought to put into words, one of the more standard ways to this is through some kind of a language course either over the Internet or in an actual school or college. Though it may seem difficult at first, it is possible to understand the various degrees of a language through study and lessons that will insure a thorough means to figuring out these concepts, and at least in part not make it impossible to utilize this language with a fluent approach to the concepts understood by a native speaker.

GUESS THE COMMONEST WORDS.
This is both frustrating and fun. Type in English words you think might be among the 100 most common, and if you're right, the world will appear in its box. Note that if you start typing in a three-letter word that happens to start with a two-letter word, the latter will appear instead, but you can then go back and start typing again and it will accept the longer word (if, of course, it's on the list). Warning: I'm pretty sure the list is flawed, because some of the words I (and people on the MetaFilter thread where I found it) tried have to be more common than a few of the ones they include. My score: 47. One person at MeFi claims to have gotten 74; I'm not sure I believe him. You have five minutes, and it's harder than you think.

If you live in a city where many different cultures interrelate, then it is highly plausible for you to find a means to bettering your understanding of many of the various concepts inherently unique to the language that you choose to learn.
A language school that specializes in many different languages gives rise to being able to learn many differing concepts at once to further the concepts that may seem abstract through your own peculiar linguistic background whether English or otherwise, but it is up to the motivation of the student to really gain a grasp of the concepts that may seem too foreign otherwise, anything frustrating will still seem less of a frustration through applied study and knowledge.
